Grandfather Vineyard and Winery

Grandfather Vineyard and Winery is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery. The Tatum family has a background in woodworking and interior design, which is evident from their beautiful tasting room. Founder Steve Tatum had the idea of selling grapes to other wineries. His son, Dylan, moved back to the area after graduating from Surry Community’s viticulture program and earning a business degree from ASU. Instead of selling their produce Dylan wanted to produce their own wine and thus Grandfather Winery was born. When Dylan married Nicole she brought marketing and sales to the business. We have visited Grandfather several times. Whether you sit at a table or by the stream the wine nor the staff disappoint. There isn’t a white wine produced at Grandfather that I don’t like. Charles enjoys the dry reds. Eleven80, a restaurant in Boone, NC and Grandfather each appreciated each other so much that Eleven80 became a permanent food truck on the property. The food is amazing, but it goes quickly. They are open spring and summer and operate until the food runs out. If the food truck is closed they do offer lunch boxes and various cheeses. You are welcome to bring a picnic and there are many tables along the stream. In the cooler months they do have an enclosed tent. Most weekends have live music. Leashed dogs are welcome. All service is outside at this time.
