Weathervane Winery

Weathervane started off as a straightforward boutique-style winery, but has grown and now includes a wedding venue, tastings, tours, and cabin rentals. They are open Tuesday-Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 1-5. Each staff member is knowledgeable and can lead you through a tasting of sweet or dry wine. Most times the owners, Sid and Miranda Proctor are pouring and discussing food pairings in the tasting room. We have visited Weathervane several times and on our first trip, we stayed on the property in one of their cabins. The cabins are perfect for a romantic getaway. Each cabin comes complete with a hot tub on the deck. Some wineries can be stuffy, but not Weathervane. Sid will greet you as you walk in and it will seem like you are 2 friends discussing wine and food. The venue is a great space for your special occasion or wedding. Weather permitting the entire winery could be used for guests to spread out.

Our most recent visit was in January. Not having visited in a while we decided to enjoy a tasting. The tastings are $12/per person and include 5 wines. We started with Ionosphere, a dry Pinot Grigio with intense floral notes. We then moved to Harvest Moon, their estate wine. It is a light red blend. If you aren’t typically a red wine drinker this is one red blend we recommend. Next came the Temperature Rising. It is a bold red that is rich and velvety. Next came their Grand Vieux Château du Roi, a Syrah based with big fruit flavors. The dry flight finished with the Cirrus Red, a soft Malbec. We suggest checking out the Weathervane Winery website which has a lot of information on how to pair their wines with your favorite foods.

After our tasting, we purchased a few bottles and moved outside to enjoy the beautiful day. We brought our own picnic lunch of charcuterie, featuring various types of cheeses that we discussed and paired with the wines we bought. There is just something special about spending an afternoon with friends enjoying food over good wine. We definitely made memories that day.

Before you leave the winery be sure to check out the many wine accessories and wine-themed gifts they offer.
