I love finding a winery that makes you feel far away from life’s hectic schedule and commitments. Driving up the long winding road to Veronét Vineyards, which sits on the highest peak of the property, you are greeted with incredible views of Crowders Mountain. Veronét Vineyards, located in Kings Mtn., North Carolina is just 30 minutes from Charlotte.
Veronét offers many options to relax both inside and outside. The tasting room is spacious and open with smaller, more intimate sitting areas throughout. There are also tables where you can gather to eat. The sleek modern design is predominant throughout the property. The outside patio is lit and heated with abundant areas to spread out. The lower patio area has picnic tables for friends to enjoy a glass of wine and nibble on some snacks. It also has a separate serving bar available. The lower patio area often serves as a beautiful backdrop for weddings and other special events. Customers of all ages frequent Veronét. The inside space has upbeat background music without being too loud for conversations. Outside the patio sofas under the heating lamps are a hot commodity and stayed occupied the entire time we were there.
Charles and I have been to Veronét twice and look forward to going back. The first time I was there I fell in love with the Pinot Grigio. On our second visit, I enjoyed the Rousanne. The tasting options include a flight of three 2 oz. pours of your choice. Customers can opt for a single glass or a bottle. We both enjoyed a tasting flight
Tasting notes are available for each wine, but I like to taste and make my own observations. I don’t pretend to know a lot about wine. I know what I look for in a wine, but I am willing to try different wines. To accompany our tasting we ordered a charcuterie box that was perfect for 2 people. It was loaded with local nuts, fruit, cheese, and meat. Once our friends arrived we ordered lunch from Roman’s All-Star Cafe food truck. The impossible burger, chicken philly, and fried bologna were a few of the entrees we enjoyed.
The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable of the wines. They are eager to answer any questions you have. From the moment you walk up to the door, you are greeted with a smile. The host will direct you to available seating and bar service.
When planning your trip to Veronét you need to understand that seating is first come first serve. If it’s cooler weather and you want to sit inside you need to plan to be there early. One thing I have learned is the times we have visited the other guests have been very friendly and don’t mind sharing an inside table. It sort of reminds me of community seating at Daniel Boone Inn. No outside food is allowed inside the tasting room.
As stated before snacks are available for purchase and food trucks are common on the weekends. Small snacks are allowed outside. As with all wineries, no outside alcohol is permitted. I am amazed how many people try to skirt around this common-sense policy. Coolers need to remain in the car. I would highly suggest checking out their website for all the FAQs. This will help you plan the perfect visit.
Veronét can get crowded especially during warmer months. You are welcome to bring a blanket and sit. They are family-friendly with ample space for kids to play. Children need to be supervised at all times. As with all working farms guests are not permitted in the vineyard.
